All dressed up and a place to go

BB received some exciting news a couple of weeks back and that was her and her friends had been nominated for a Spirit of Youth Awards.  The award ceremony was a black tie event and meant that we all needed to dress up in our finniest. However the evening was marred by the announcement at 9am on the morning of the night the event was due to take place by the school demanding the children all wore their uniform, despite the invitation stating it was a black tie event.

I rang the school and was given the round around, but I was persistent.  I was lied to  and was told that the Head Teacher was not in, when he was seen around the school.  I was lied to and told the Depute Head was not available and in an ‘extend assembly’.  I finally got to speak to the Depute head as I made it very clear I was not going away but I just could not get through to the school that the event was an events for the children and youths and NOT a school based event.  The ‘conversation’ end abruptly when the Depute Head attempted to black me with

‘if BB does not turn up in uniform it will have repercussions on if she is included in any future events such as this’

my answer?

‘Oh! That’s a nice little piece of blackmail there I hear !’

Of course it was denied and I was ‘twisting her words’ and I told her

“I know blackmail when I hear it and that was blackmail.  BB will NOT be wearing her uniform!”

I was also told the Head would be at the event, he was not, as a further attempt at intimidation and scare tactics.

If there is one thing I really hate and that’s being spoken down to by teachers believing they are Gods Gifts to man kind and every one else are moronic idiots!

The pictures are not brilliant as I had 30 seconds to take them before we rushed out the door.

BB and her friends came in second and went up on stage to collect their certificate, another part that was annoying when the teacher tried to nominate one child to collect.  Thankfully the Spirit of Youth Organisation had foreseen this and said all nominees will go up on stage…good for them!

And those that wore the uniform? Well they were scruffy especially when stood next to another group dress smartly in blazers and next to BB and her friend all glammed up. They also optimised everything the event was against, the yobbo scruff hanging about on the on the street corner!

What did the other parents who caved into the schools bullying say when they saw BB and her friend?  We should have let you wear your dress too…..well, why didn’t you is what I was thinking.
