I have not written a post for a while as I have not been feeling myself of late, can’t put my finger on it but feeling generally under the weather!
Talking of weather I went up to a friend of mine on Monday, Stonehead. When we left our place it was a beautiful, but chilly, sunny spring day. Stonehead had already warned me the weather was completely different up his way so we went prepared with extra jumpers, gloves, hats and boots. He is less than 2 hours drive from me but you would have thought it a completely different Continent for he had at least 6 inches of snow when I arrived, slightly more when I left in an in pending blizzard!
On arrival the children almost immediately put on their extra clothing and boots and set about having fun in the snow with snow ball fights and sort of snow man making. They stayed outside a while but came in as the temperature dropped.
We eventually had to leave as I had been keeping an eye on the weather. The fact that icicles were growing rapidly underneath my car demonstrated that the temperature was dropping rapidly and I noticed the snow showers were increasing in length the amount between them decreasing. It was just as well we left when we did as I encountered a complete white out on the road from the village to the main road along with strong winds whipping up the snow laying as well the stuff coming down from the sky.
When we got about an hour from Stoneheads and we were back to the sunny, but slightly chillier, weather we left in. We had a few snow flurries along the way and at home but not like at Stoneheads.
Think this just shows that Scotland has it’s own micro climates which can vary enormously dependant on what side of a hill you are at the time.
