Buddhism

In the meeting hosted by Educational Services I was asked question what I thought to MLA learning about Buddhism in Religious Education classes.  I said I have not problem with that as I was thinking but Buddhism is not a religion in the traditional sense of the word and does not believe in a God or Gods.  I did not say this as I needed to check my facts, I don’t spout on about things I don’t know about as a rule!

So this morning I typed in my search engine BUDDHISM and up popped several sites.  They all stated;

Buddhism is NOT a religion but a guide to teach to experience reality…Teachings of the Awakened.  I also found this site which states very clearly Buddha is not a God, he never claimed he was a god and never claimed to be a divine being. It appears that he was also in fact an atheist or even possibly agnostic as until Buddha or his followers find proof there is a God or gods they can not believe the existence. Much the same as MLA feels.

 As this is the next subject that is to be taught within MLA school it will be very interesting to see how they portray Buddhism, they are already portraying it as a religion will the proclaim Buddha as  god?
